 Ch 3

(Y/n) walked over to her next class. She sighed with relief.

Ah, Government. Not exactly maybe her favorite yet again. The debates were cool but sometimes, she heard nothing but the teacher droning on and on about politics, parties, laws and jobs.

Still, at least some of the stuff was interesting. It wasn't like math where you only had to understand the language of numbers or physics were it was the worse combination of trying to talk with words and numbers.

Plus, it was just note-taking. Whatever the teacher said, you just wrote it down in your own words. That way, when it came to studying, it just made things easier instead of trying to remember what he/she said. Also, the teacher HAD to make the subject interesting.

She remembered one time how she wasn't such a big fan of biology yet, but the teacher for that class was pretty cool. She would point out examples, show videos, bring in samples and act like biology was a really big deal. The experiments were actually totally fun too. At least she made biology class enjoyable and something fun to learn. Why can't other teachers be like that?

As (y/n) walked into class, she already noticed two familiar faces. Connor immediately waved at her happily. She saw Altair next to him, talking to two other boys, not noticing her.

She went up to the teacher and told him about her. "Have a seat wherever you like," the teacher said.

(Y/n) walked over to the gleeful Connor and sat down. "I never knew you were going to be in Mr. Davenport's class," Connor said gladly.

(Y/n) shrugged. "I didn't know either. Maybe we should look at each other's schedules. That way, if we have another class together, we can meet up and walk together." She brought out her schedule to him.

"Nope, sorry, I guess it's only this way," Connor said, studying the schedule. "Hey, you have Stats after lunch! My other friend has that class next. She'll walk you over there."

 "Is she nice?"

"Yeah, she's really nice. Unless you bug her that is. I can't wait til you meet the rest of us...well, what I mean by that is that, my friends. Yeah. Of course, me and my cousins hangout but we have other friends as well. They're pretty cool."

"I can't wait to meet them," (y/n) said. "You all sound nice...so far."

"Don't mind my cousins," Connor said. "If any of them bother you, just let me know. I mean, the only one that really aggravates me is probably Ezio. He's such a womanizer. Arno is too, but he's more on the friendly side, so he's not that bad. I guess I can say Edward likes to flirt too but he's more...ermm...I really don't want to talk about it...and Altair...as long as you don't try to level yourself up against him, he won't scare you. He keeps to himself a lot. For me....as you can see, I'm friendly but I can get a little peeved off."

"That's cute," (y/n) said. "You all have some sort of part you play in. Altair's the cold-stare, loner. Ezio, the adventurous flirt. Connor, the kind, but easily peeved. Edward, the punk-rocker. And Arno, the friendly-man...did I get it all right?"

"Pretty much sums up all of us," Connor said. "Not counting my friends of course. I guess you can say they're somewhat part of our family...not by blood but it's like...I don't know how to explain...it's like we all know what we're going through and we just band together and stay with one another. We don't really like to fight each other or separate."

(Y/n) nodded. "Cool. You got each other's backs in case anything were to happen."

"Yeah, I guess you can say that," Connor said. He turned to Altair and nudged his shoulder. "Hey, Altair. Look who's in our class."

"In a minute, Connor," Altair said as he returned to talking to the two boys.

(Y/n) frowned. "Is he a gossiper?"

Connor shrugged. "Those are his buddies. They're not bad but they can get on each other's nerves. They're brothers."

(Y/n) eyed the two boys. They did looked alike a bit, with one's skin being a bit lighter than the others. They both had fluffy, short black hair.

The light skinned one was taller. He had on a black jacket with jeans and harsh brown eyes. He had glasses on his table along with notebooks, a book, pencils, a pencil case....pretty much every stationery tool out there. He spoke with a strong, firm voice.

The other one was short and only a bit darker than the other, but he still looked light skinned. He had on a gray-white jacket with gray pants. He had soft blue eyes. He spoke very happily, almost childish but very respectful. On his desk was a notebook and a pen.

(Y/n) spied at Altair's desk. He had the same thing as the shorter one's desk.

"Altair," Connor said again. "Look. Remember our friend in English class?" Altair turned around to see (y/n) waving at him. "Oh, hi." He then turned back to the boys.

 (Y/n) frowned. "Seriously?"

Connor rolled his eyes. "Arrogant prick...."

Altair turned around in a flash. "What was that?"

"You heard me," Connor said. "You're always so selfish, you know that? I mean, geez, poor (y/n) doesn't know anyone or anything about this school. So, here am I, as a good friend should, offering my friendship to her and such. You, oh, no. You automatically label everyone who comes here as not worthy. I mean, sheesh, at least acknowledge yourself."

"Ok, fine," Altair said, glancing to (y/n). "Hi, my name is Altair Ibn La Ahad. And that's all there is to it." He returned back to the boys.

(Y/n) saw that Connor was about to blow up and jab a fist to his back. "Umm, nice to meet you too," (y/n) said, quickly grabbing Connor's hands which caused him to blush and frown.

Altair nodded but (y/n) saw that the other boys were now looking at her, curious and interested. "Altair, who is this?" said the taller one. Altair sighed. "New student. Me and my cousins met her in English class."

"Ah, it's been a while since we had a new student," said the taller one. "Well, if we're going to make this school look better, we might as well try all together to show that we are a better school. I'm Malik. Malik Al-Sayf." He stuck out his hand.

(Y/n) shook it, letting go of Connor's hands, who gaped. "I'm (y/n) (l/n). Nice to meet you."

"Oh, and this is my little brother, Kadar," Malik said, placing a hand on the shorter one's shoulders. Kadar smiled and waved shyly. (Y/n) waved back kindly.

"You two do sure look a little alike," (y/n) said.

"Well, I was born a bit first before him," Malik said.

"So, about Maria..." Altair began, trying to rear off course.

"What school were you from?" Malik asked, bobbing his head in front of Altair's desk, causing him to sit up straight. "Malik, you're on my desk!"

"I'm from (s/n)," (y/n) said. "My mom got a new job here so we moved over here. It's a bit scary but...so far nobody's really been mean to me or anything."

"That's great," Malik said. "Finally, we're ranking up as the next best school. That other one though....oogghhg!!! I can't believe that one's still top rank above us. If we can just for once show those...oof! I can't even pronounce their name right now."

"There's another school here?" (y/n) asked.

"Rival school," Connor laughed. "It's that intense."

(Y/n) then gasped. "Wait, Connor, I have to ask you a question. Do you know..."

"All right, class," Mr. Davenport said. "Bring out those notebooks and I'm going to start yapping. So according to the Constitution..."

"One of you better not distract me," Altair growled, pointing the pencil at all of you.

"What's with him?" (y/n) asked Connor. Connor shrugged. "He's only mad because of that stupid grade he got in English..."

"Which is technically all of your guys' fault," Altair muttered. "Oh really? What about that night you went out partying with Malik and Kadar? Don't you think I didn't see that," Connor hissed.

"Hey, I studied hard and got a great grade on that!" Malik protested. "You're not helping," Altair growled.

(Y/n) laughed, giggling at the boys' moody anger. Kadar smiled. Malik saw this and nudged him. "Someone's crushing on a certain person, eh?"

"Shut up!" Kadar said, blushing. "Ah, look, see, you're blushing!" Mailk teased. He punched his brother in the arm. "Hey, stop it!" Kadar said.

 Connor shrugged. "Brothers..."

"Say, why don't you and Kadar tell me more about yourselves?" (y/n) asked.

"Well," Malik said, hovering over Altair's desk again, causing him to growl. "I'm an expert at cartography. Just give me directions about you wanting to find the nearest restroom and I'll be glad to help you find your way using the handy map..."

 "Malik...my desk," Altair mumbled.

"And I happen to be an expert in books. Need help in studying Pluto? Or Shakespeare? I can translate all what they say..."

"Then translate this: off my desk. Now," Altair grumbled. Malik got off. "Fine, don't be such a baby."

(Y/n) saw Kadar trying to hear in on the conversation. "So, Kadar," (y/n) said. "What about you?"

"Oh, me?" Kadar whimpered. "I umm...I'm just really into...books I guess. Yeah, no, I mean soccer! I like soccer. Do you?"

"It interest me little," (y/n) said. "I like the idea of it as a game where you just run and let free. As a sports games though, it gets crazy around Fifa...."

"You should of seen this guy when Fifa happens," Connor said, pointing to Altair. "Oh my, him and Ezio...well, a bit of Arno as well...go banana crazy when their teams are on."

"I still remember that time when Ezio particularly punched Arno when his team won," Malik snickered. "He was like VIVA ITALIA CRETINOS! I was surprised that Arno didn't try to strangle him yet."

"Arno's into Fifa but not that big..." Connor said. "Still, the erm, the time when freaking Spain won, he wasn't as happy about that."

"And that's why, I never make bets," Altair said, rolling his eyes. "I told him time after time, do not make the bet, do not make the bet. Does he even listen? No. And you guys call me arrogant..."

"You are!" Malik protested, punching him in the arm.

(Y/n) smiled and then focused on note-taking. "Oh, and don't worry about the teacher here," Connor said. "He's pretty easy. He can get a bit rough sometimes but if you ever need help in here or English, I'll be glad to help you out."

"Thank you, Connor," (y/n) said. "I'll be happy to help you as well."

"Wha-what about me?" Malik asked. "I'm not just an expert at cartography or books....I'm good at math too and such!"

"Oh, maybe you can help me with physics. Not my favorite subject at least...."

"Pff, I can beat physics any day!"

Altair's face frowned, aggravated by his friends and cousin's chatter to (y/n). He shook his head, wondering what the heck was so special about her? He turned to her.

She was trying to take notes but Connor or Malik would make a comment about something, sending (y/n) into laughter. She seemed to have some sort of bubbly personality, always smiling, caring and laughing.

Every time she smiled, Kadar's smile grew wider.

What was it about her? Maybe she was better than Maria...Maria was nice but...after that little stunt she pulled...indeed, they let it go past them and the two were friends now, he still couldn't help but not forgive her...maybe it was him time to strike back...

"So, (y/n), how are you liking the school so far?" Altair asked. Connor just made a comment about something about the stupid wolves he found in Pennsylvania one time, making (y/n) burst into laughter.

She wiped a tear away and looked at him. "Oh, I like it. Very nice so far. Everyone's so friendly...I can't wait to see more."

 Altair grinned. Maybe he could..

"Oh, do you want to join our club?" Malik asked. (Y/n) frowned. "Club?"

"Yeah, umm, our little lunch people," Kadar said shyly. "It's us, Altair's cousins and the rest of their friends. We're like, the cool people in a way."

"You mean, Ezio trying to act like he's the 'cool' one," Connor said, rolling his eyes. "I swear, I mean, he's my cousin but he's such a..."

"Connor, stop that ruckus of yours!" Mr. Davenport roared. "Unless you have something to say that's important for the whole class to hear."

"Umm, Congress is made up of two bodies, the House and the Senate," Connor said weakly. "That's more like it," Mr. Davenport said. "Now, remember, according to the Articles..."

"We should talk more at lunch," (y/n) said. "Talk to you after class."

 "Ok," Connor said.

 Malik winked.

 Kadar happily waved.

Altair grinned. Maybe she could be useful....
