 S/n-school name

(F/n) walked over to her next class, Physics. Physics was probably one of the worst subjects scientists and mathematicians combined. It was a terror to everyone back in her old school and no one wanted to take that class. The only good thing about it was that the teacher was pretty friendly but she was serious about the subject itself; it was like a death sentence for life. Even the smart ones were scared, fearing that the teacher might mark down one point because they forgot something, even though the answer was correct.

Hopefully, it won't be the same for this one.

(F/n) walked into the room to see that students were already in their seats, chatting away about first period, who they saw, the overload of homework, gossip, etc. She went up to the teacher's desk. "Umm, accuse me?"

A woman looked up from the teacher's desk. She had brown hair pinned up, brown eyes, wore a green jacket, black shirt and black pants. She had glasses on. She was obviously probably one serious science teacher. "Yes?"

"Umm, I'm new here. I was wondering if you can check me off the roster."

"Oh, you must be that new kid I got an email about. (L/n), right?" "Yes."

The woman scrolled through her computer. "Ah, yes, I have you right here. Check. You can sit whatever you like."

"Thank you." (F/n) went took one seat away from the teacher's desk. It was the wrong choice. When she sat down, a guy with dark skin sort of like Connor's and a black ponytail was staring at her. He wore a brown shirt with dark wash jeans and brown boots. He also had some sort of stubble growing on his face. He was gazing at her like a leopard to a baby gorilla....ready to pounce and analyze every detail before he would make her spill out.

(F/n) glanced up to see him staring. Like prey, she stood frozen with fear, not sure to ask if he had a problem or just ignore him. She gulped. He gave out a cold, friendly smile. (F/n) waved, wondering if maybe he just needed a hello. The guy waved back, the cocky grin still on his face.

(F/n) then looked down at her desk. That was freaky. Why did this guy give her the chills....more importantly, he reminded her of the boys in her English class...could it possibly be that...

"All right class! Today you'll get into your groups and begin preparing for lab tomorrow. And I'm doing this by placing you into groups. If you start complaining, too bad. You'll have to work for someone you don't like. And if any of you are found being lazy, I'm not afraid to kick you out of the lab. First group is Monica, George, Henry and Peter...."

(F/n) prayed that she wasn't going to be paired up with that guy who stared her down. He was really scary. Who would want to pair up with that guy? The way he was looking at her was so...

"Hello," said a deep, rough but kind, accented voice. (F/n) looked up. It was the guy. He was leaning onto her desk, his arms crossed. "You must be new here. I haven't seen your face around. I've heard that it's hard for new kids to adjust to the environment and make new friends. I'm Shay. Shay Cormac." He stuck out his hand.

(F/n) took it nervously. "I'm (F/n). (F/n) (l/n)." Shay pulled his hand away.

"There is no need to be frighten of me. I'm quite friendly really...well....sort of. I was just...umm...seeing what kind of person you are."

"Oh." (F/n) shrugged. "It's fine but umm...you were looking at me quite creepily."

"My apologies, I'm sorry for that," Shay said. "I should of just did this...a formal greeting. I don't know why I don't remind myself that giving people the stare will freak them out."

 (F/n) nodded. "Uh-huh."

Shay grinned. "Say, what school did you come from?"

 "I come from (s/n) High."

"Is that far? I don't think I ever heard of that school before."

"Yeah, it's pretty far. In fact, we moved over here. My mom got a new job and...it was all the way over here for it."

"Aww, I'm sorry. It must of been hard to leave your friends back at home like that."

"It's fine. I have their numbers so no worry!"

"I remember coming over here as well," Shay said. "Well, I actually went here before but I transferred...then I came back over here."

"You went from one school to another and then back here? Why? I mean, shouldn't it be you go to one school and if you're moving, you go to that school only...unless you got in trouble..."

Before Shay could say anything, he heard his name being called. "Shay, (f/n), Josh and Amanda."

"Looks like we're going to be working together," Shay smiled. (F/n) gave an uneasy grin.

So far, he was friendly...but something about him nagged her. It was like he was hiding something from her. Something he didn't want her to know. But she was new here. So why would someone like him who's probably been a student here already try to be so secretive around her? Did he really want to be friends with her or was there something he felt confident to sp....

"All right class! Off to the lab room!" (F/n) saw that students were already getting up from their seats and following the teacher to the lab room.

"That's our group right there," Shay said, pointing to a boy in a blue shirt with dark brown hair and a girl with a pink shirt with long mouse brown hair.

 "How are they?" (f/n) asked.

"Uh, they're ok. I mean, Amanda's a bit of a science girl but let's say she's got a mouth as well. One wrong thing about anything...and I mean anything...clothes, science, boots, bears...even freaking poop...she'll backlash at you how you're wrong and you need guidance."

(F/n) laughed. "Really? Is she that big of a brainier?"

"Everything. 24/7. Words go through her eyes and ears. Shoot, she'll be able to even sense how touch is, the aroma of a smell, the taste of a substance and even dictate what you're feeling inside."

 "How about Josh?"

"Oh, bad guy right there. Doesn't care about anything. His only focus is football. He thinks he can get by anything, thinking that just training in football will get him into the leagues. Big mistake. Once I knew a guy at my old school who thought the same. He ended up having to repeat all of his years in high school."

"Ouch. Hey, Shay, what school did you go to before...."

"I myself, am possibly pursuing a career in science. Why, I find it beautiful to see how the mechanics of a machine can go into action and the mathematical motion of a propeller flying in the air. What are you planning?"

"Me? As in career? Well..." (F/n) thought about it for a moment. Before she could answer, they were already at the lab room.

"All right, you're going to make car engines today. As I told you before, calculate how much velocity you and need and...." The teacher droned on and on about the experiment.

"She's so detailed about everything, huh?" (f/n) asked.

"Yep," Shay laughed. "You should see her on electromagnetics. She's goes crazy."

"And once you got everything set, you need to make sure you're following the directions, am I clear?" the teacher said. The class nodded. "All right, get to work!"

With that the students began to work on the experiment.

"Umm," (y/n) said. "What are we doing?"

"We're figuring out how fast this car we built can go up to the speed of the wind," Shay said. "Have you done this experiment before? If you haven't...you can help Amanda with the calculations..."

"That's going to be 47 degrees to the right, 57 to the left, the wheels need to be 67 centimeters long..." Amanda droned on. (Y/n) frowned. "Or I can..."

"Or you can just watch," Shay laughed. "I'm fine with that. It's your first time here. Jump in though if you see anything wrong."

With that, (y/n) watched them work on the car. Here and there, she would point out some stuff from remembering a little of her physics class. She hadn't gotten this far yet but she did recall how the teacher was pointing out some stuff in building a car...

It wasn't until then that class was over.

"...and that's going to be 78 in height," Amanda said, tapping the toy car's top part.

"Thanks for the advice, Amanda," Shay said. "Oh, and thank you too, (y/n). How else we're we suppose to know that the tires were on backwards?"

"I can't believe you didn't even look at that!" (y/n) giggled.

"Oh, and Josh," Shay continued. Josh was busy playing on his phone. "Uh-huh," Josh said, tapping his finger away on it. "Hold on, I'm about to attack someone's clan right now." Shay rolled his eyes, making (y/n) laugh again.

The bell rang. "Wait!" the teacher said. "I want you all to remember to study Chapter 3. We're having that big test on Friday and I don't want any of you saying that I didn't warn you!"

"Say, (y/n), where's your next class?" Shay asked.

(Y/n) looked down at her paper. "Gov. with Mr. Jayson. At room 234."

"Darn, I thought about walking you over there..."

 "What class do you have?"

"English with Ms. Harris. I'm not a big fan of her. Let's just say she's a bit unorganized...and she's always going off topic! I should tell you the time when we were talking about To Kill A Mockingbird and all of a sudden, she started talking about racism and how she was once a white supremacist...gawd, it was so annoying. She wouldn't shut up!"

"Well, I wish you best of luck."

"I need it," Shay said. "I really do. My class is this way. I'm sorry. Oh, and room 234 though is on your right. Go straight down and it'll be there."

"Thanks, Shay." (Y/n) thought about asking him if he knew the boys in her English class....She just had a funny feeling that there was....nah, she would ask him later.

 "See you around...or at lunch."

"You too, (y/n)." For a moment, Shay frowned. He never felt this happy before. Usually, he was just cool and clam but now he was all giddy and joyful. "What the heck is going on with me?" Shay muttered.

My first mental response to finding out it was shay was: “He’s a rat, Dutch”, I’ve been playing a lot of RDR2
