Chapter 3: Saving Kids From Meanies

After the brutal disagreement, (y/n) wasn't so sure if he wanted to go back. Instead, he stayed beside the bathroom, glaring at any kid who happened to push pass him into the restroom.

He wasn't being a dick. He was simply just frustrated still over that bitch. Who was she anyway?

He slowly paced around inside the bathroom, wondering what he should do. "Well, I can't stay here long," he said. "Maybe I should go back...and apologize...that really was unnecessary. I mean...it's not like we're suppose to be enemies, right? She doesn't know what I've been through...nobody does....Great, what a fucking moron I am." He slapped his face.

He titled his head a bit. "I really got to get it together...what's really wrong with me?" He shook his head and began to rub it. "Maybe I'm just pmsing...even though I'm not a girl..." He sighed. "I didn't transfer over to this school for nothing. It's looks like I'm already making a bad impression over that stupid thing...and for nothing...all because I can't seem to control myself. Goodness...I hate myself now."

He began to open the door. "Yet...why do I get the feeling that, all that crap I've been through...it's like...that's not how he should be...there's something more to it...I should of asked him...yet I kept all that anger in me...I was afraid to ask. Why did he do this? Was it to make me stronger? Did something happen before I was born? All these questions...and I've kept them in me. Huh, another good reason why I'm stupid."

He walked down the hallway, hearing nothing but the clatter of his feet against the floor. "Well, things. 1) No more tough kid act...yet I don't want to let my guard down. 2) Ask about the school more...and now that I think of it...more about this Satsuki...as much as she's the leader...why is it that I have a funny feeling I shouldn't be defending her? And why am I even here? And that's another think irking at me...yet here I am. And 3) apologize..."

He groaned. "Yet what if I apologize...and she STILL gives me the aggravated look. I might as well go to another class. There's no way she's going to accept my apology."

He scanned the room numbers. "I might as well try. If she doesn't accept, I guess that goes on my permanent record."

He felt something pull him back by the collar of his shirt. "Hey!" He turned around to see what the big idea was but saw that it was Mako.

 "Mako?"

"Hiya, (y/n)!" Mako beamed, swaying her arms around. "I saw that you were pretty feisty with Ryuko. I calmed her down a bit but then I figured, what about you and decided to blood sniff you like a dog!"

(Y/n)'s eyes widen at the blood sniff part. He really wondered what it was like in Mako's head.

"Umm, thank you?" (y/n) said, not sure what to say.

"So, I see that you're calmed down now too. You know, you remind me of Ryuko. She was just like you. All angry and mean. But once you get to know her, she's really nice and she's got a hard life, she lost something precious to her, she's got a thing to talk to because she doesn't have any friends, well besides me, and just like you, nobody really gave her anything besides me because she made a grand entrance but you know, we don't tell anyone a lot about our school because were like, hey, what if the new kid starts questioning too much of this stuff and then they challenge it, then they get in trouble, so not a lot of us want to be their friends because then we might get in trouble and so..."

(Y/n) felt a little sweat drop. Mako was lighting speed talking fast. He was really trying to hear what she was saying but every word out of her mouth was beginning to become gibberish.

"And..." Mako took a deep breath. "I'd figured me and Ryuko could help you out here so no ones obliging to help so do you want to be part of our little group?"

"I wouldn't mind," (y/n) said. "I mean, you're umm a bit...well, wild but you seem pretty cool. I guess...I'm probably wrong about thinking Ryuko's just some mean girl too. You forgot one thing though...we had that argument...what if she doesn't accept my apology..."

"Don't worry, (y/n)!" Mako thundered. "I'll let her know you're just some poor kid out like her, lost and alone, a threat to the authority but you just want justice and for all, and you're here to just figure out what your ambitions are and such. So hopefully, with your sorry skills and my ability to convince her will make her change her mind!" As Mako was saying this, she was doing crazy poses and demonstrating how the apology plan would work.

(Y/n) signed. "All right. Thanks, Mako. Maybe we can do this tomorrow? I mean, she might still be a little too angry now..."

"Hmm," Mako said. "That sounds right. I mean, when you're mad at someone, they really need to calm down and Ryuko's one of those if you get her mad, she'll stare at you with rage eyes. And in the meantime, while you're figuring out how to apologize to her, I'll try to make her feel why she should accept your apology and also, the reasons why maybe you're acting like this. Speaking of which, is there anything causing you to act like this?"

"Umm, I regret not really talk about it," (y/n) said. "I umm, have a somewhat complicated past I'm trying to solve now and..."

"It's ok," Mako said, putting a finger on (y/n)'s lips. "More ways to connect to Ryuko! Like her, she's haunted by the fact of her father being murdered thresh out of her home! She's here to challenge Satsuki to get her to blurt out who killed her father! But she's not letting the past get to her! She's finding out answers for it!"

(Y/n)'s head titled. "You know, I'm probably going to do the same as her. We're quite a like in a way....but maybe a bit diff...."

"Aha! See, similar past! Connections!" Mako beamed. "Maybe you should say sorry to her now. That way, in case, we'll forget all way happened and let bygones be bygones! Let's move!"

She immediately grabbed (y/n)'s hand and began to dart away with him dragging at his feet. "Hey, Mako! Wait, you're not letting me catch up!"

"I'm sorry, (y/n)!" Mako said. "But we have to get there now! We've spent too much time discussing our apology plan. We have to go back before someone suspects we're out of the classroom! And I'll be your cheerleader in getting your apology accepted!"

They took a sharp turn down a hallway. (Y/n) saw nothing but blurred lines as Mako zoomed toward their homeroom. He had noticed two  familiar faces though.

 "Nurto? Hirako?"

The two boys talking looked up at (y/n). "Oh, hey, (y/n)" Hirako said.

 "You know him?" Nurto asked.

"Yeah, he's my cousin," Hirako said.

Mako immediately stopped. "Hi, Nurto," she blushed, fluttering her eyelashes. Nurto looked away in disgust.

As she stopped though, she had let go of (y/n), sending him face down to the floor. "Ow..."

"Oh, sorry, (y/n)!" Mako said, picking him up and brushing dust off. "I forgot I was holding onto you towards our apology mission and Nurto blinded me with his cuteness...."

Nurto began to blush as Hirako snickered. "Umm, Mako?" Nurto said. "I don't mean to be rude again but I kind of already told you that I..."

"Hey, you two kids! You didn't make it to gardening club again!" They all glanced up to see a kid wearing a white uniform with two red stars on it. He had on a blue cap with white polka dots and also seemed to have something on his back. It contained two large plants with drool dripping down.

"Oh, sorry, Kusanosuke," Nurto said. "Umm, we had class and..."

"I don't care if you have class, once you sign up for a club, you stick to it!" Kusanosuke roared.

(Y/n) frowned. "Hey, don't YOU have class to go to?"

"Sorry, new kid," Kusanosuke said. "But this only concerns of these two little twerps here. They need punishment for not attending an important meeting today."

"How the hell are they going to do that when they've got class?" (y/n) thundered.

Regardless, of what he said, Kusanosuke's two large plants zoomed for Nurto and Hirako. It grabbed the boys by the helm of the back of their uniform collars.

"Hey, put us down! I'm not going to be truant!" Nurto hollered. "Too bad kid, you're going to be nice bait for my plants!" Kusanosuke giggled. He then began to walk away with the two boys.

"Mako! (Y/n)! Help!" the boys cried.

"Wait!" (y/n) said, running after Kusanosuke.

Mako began screaming. "Wait! (Y/n), you'll get hurt! You're a no star! You don't even have a uniform! Oh, why? What do I do? I know! I'll get Ryuko! But she's mad at him! But the love of my life is in danger! And that other kid! And (y/n) will be next! No! I have to save him!"

She began to ran after (y/n), leaving a cloud of dust....but then she ran back the other way. "I'm too weak! Forget it! Ryuko!"

Out near the garden, Kusanosuke held the two boys up to his new growing plants sitting at the end of the greenhouse. The two Venus fly trap monsters dripped their drool on the boys.

"Ugh, my mom just washed this!" Hirako muttered. "Lunchtime, lovelies!" Kusanosuke said wiping his face off, as his plants reached towards the Venus fly traps.

"Let go of them!" Kusanosuke turned around to see (y/n). "Ugh, get lost new boy. It's private lunchtime for my two new creations. And this will be the punishment these two punks deserve for dissing the meeting. What are you going to do about it? You've got nothing to beat me."

(Y/n) growled. He didn't have anything on him. So how the heck was he going to take on a kid with two plant monsters on his back? He then thought of something. He began to run towards Kusanosuke.

"You know what, I'll let you be the subject for my preciouses! Eat up!" The Venus fly traps swarmed down to (y/n), jaws open. (Y/n) dodged them and slid to the side.

The Venus fly traps sprang toward him again. (Y/n) danced around them, dodging each attack. "There's no way you're going to win!" Kusanosuke said. "You'll get tired and be eaten alive!"

(Y/n) barely missed an attack, holding his feet up as one of the Venus fly traps attempted to munch at his leg. (Y/n) glanced around. There had to be something to block these plants. He glanced at Kusanosuke.

"Don't think about aiming for me," Kusanosuke said, as the plants on his back sunk their teeth into the boys' uniforms. "Agh! I can feel their teeth!" Nurto hollered.

"Think," (y/n) said. He saw a couple of gardening tools. This may not be the best idea...He ran for the garden hose.

The Venus fly traps aimed at him again. He turned on the garden hose, full blast and sprayed right into the plants' face. The Venus fly traps growled as their vision scurried from the blast of the water.

"Hey, you'll overwater them!" Kusanosuke said. (Y/n) then glanced for anything else. He quickly grabbed a pair of large garden scissors. "Hope this works," he muttered.

With them, he charged at one of the Venus fly traps' stalks and snap it right off. The Venus fly trap fell down, dead with white liquid spraying out.

"No! What have you done to my lovelies!" Kusanosuke growled.

The other Venus fly trap flung down toward him. (Y/n) slid back and snipped off the plant's stalk. The plant's head fell down with opened jaws.

"That does it!" Kusanosuke said, his plants on his back throwing the boys aside now. "Let's see if you can test these beauties!" His plants hooked onto (y/n)'s shirt and threw him at the glass walls. (Y/n) hit the wall, creating a crack. He then fell down, wounded.

 "(Y/n)!" Nurto and Hirako yelped.

Kusanosuke turned to him. "Now, time for you to join him!" He was then though, blinded by a flash of light. "What the?! Oh, it's you! Look here, you think you can beat me so easily, I'll..."

(Y/n) tried to open his eyes to see the fight. All he saw was blurry light and a flash of black swirling around. The slam to the glass only hurt him a bit but the impact was just too much.

As he slowly started to rise up, he heard a shout calling, "Sen'i Soshitsu!" It was followed by a loud bloody scream.

He then opened his eyes to see...Ryuko. He immediately backed away, freaking out. "Oh, hi," he said, not sure what to say.

Ryuko crossed her arms. "I saw you saving Nurto and Hirako here a bit."

"Umm, yeah," (y/n) said, rubbing his head. "Look, I umm..."

"Ryuko!" Mako said, appearing in front of (y/n). "(Y/n), is sorry for everything he's done! He didn't mean to! He's just like you! A kid, lost in the wonders of what the heck is going on here. And we, as friends, should provide support fro him and help him figure out the ways of the school. Because no one is giving him that initiation but I will because as I helped you before, it is now our time to help him! Yes, he was a bit of a nag at you, but who says we can't be friends now? Let bygones be bygones! Let us all come together and form the bond of such friendship! We will help one another in this battle of trust and loyalty! We should help him because just like I was there for you as the new kid, you should be there for him as the new kid as well! He's like you in a way! All tough and mean-looking, but once you get to know one another, you realize you're pretty cool and friendly. That's what we need to do for him! Whatever his struggles are could be yours! Maybe he's in some situation he's trying to find answers like you are! Whatever the case is...let us all be friends and understand one another! It was a simple mistake made! That is all! Who says this stupid small argument made can't be turned into a big love of friendship!" Mako jumped up with stars scattering around.

Again, as before, while Mako was giving out the speech, she was moving and gesturing, grabbing Ryuko's hands to hugging (y/n) to dancing on one foot....(y/n) really wondered how she did all this.

He then groaned. "Mako, I'm suppose to say sorry and then you try to back me up."

 "Oops," Mako said. "Sorry."

He sighed. "She's right though, Ryuko. I'm sorry. I'm just a bit paranoid. My problems and frustrations are on me, not you. I should never taken it  out on you. I'm the dumbass who's just confused and barely realizing all this stupid stuff I'm figuring out now and I just end up being an ass to you and..."

 "Apology accepted," Ryuko said.

"WHAT?!" (y/n) shouted. "You're...you're just going to accept it like that? No! There's something behind that! What is it? Spill!"

"I can see that you're frustrated," Ryuko said. "I don't blame you. I was the same as you. Until I met Mako. Our fight...it was just one big misunderstanding. You don't know a lot here. Or how to get through it. Well, you got me and Mako to help. So, let us help you out. And...if you're willingly to tell us about whatever it is you're going through...don't be afraid to tell us either. Maybe we can help some how."

"Yeah," Nurto said. "I should of told one of my buddies to help you out. I think he has the same homeroom as you. I'm sorry, (y/n). We got scared that if we told you everything about the school, you'll start questioning and be kicked out. Or worse."

"Yeah, after Ryuko got in, we sort of were afraid to decide whether or not you'll be another Matoi," Hirako said. "Not that, Im against her. I'm glad she's bringing down Satsuki in a way but you have no uniform....or even a no star. We didn't want you to be thrown out like nothing unless you came back stronger or got a uniform like hers."

"Well, he hasn't really proven that yet," Ryuko said. "And by the ways, thanks for saving them. Mako was pulling me already because she was scared about Nurto being eaten."

"I can't stand bullies. And Hirako's my cousin. If anyone is going to go through him, it'll be through me."

"That bully happens to be part of those stinkin clubs here. All appointed by Satsuki. Mako's been a target for a while too..."

"So, she's the blame for this?" (y/n) asked. Ryuko nodded. "Hmm-mm."

Now was the time for more answers. "Tell me more about Satsuki," (y/n) said. "I mean, I know I shouldn't probably have ever been like...knowing that I know her...but is there anything for me to know that's....more?"

Ryuko nodded. "There's a lot you should know. Whatever anyone tells you. Don't believe them."

"Hey, guys! We're going to be truant for class! Let's hurry!" Mako yelled, grabbing onto Nurto's hand and dashing off. "Mako!" Hirako whimpered. "Hey, wait!"

"How about I tell you everything while we walk over to class?" Ryuko said. (Y/n) nodded. "That be great."

As the students walked to their class, they hadn't noticed a mysterious camera zooming its lenses at them. "So, new boy killed off those plants quickly," a girl in pink said, waving her baton around. "What's so special about him?"

"For a kid with no uniform either, he's a little beater," a boy with green hair agreed. "Would it be the same if he had a uniform though? I don't get why we need to track him."

"He'll be useful," a high voice said behind them. The two turned around.

"My lady," the boy said. "It still doesn't make sense. You wanted him to argue with Ryuko which we got but now it looks like he's buddy-buddy with her. How can we go from there?"

"Either way is fine," the voice said. "Keep an eye on him."

"What's with no uniform though?" the girl asked.

"I'd figured he'll be comfortable in his own skin...don't you two seem what I'm doing?"

The two stared at each other a bit. The boy shook his head. "Wait, I think I..."

Somewhere, there was a small smile on Satsuki's face. "It's exactly what I want."
